This isn't just about dog photos.

It’s about artwork that belongs in your home.

This isn’t just about dog photos.

It’s about artwork that belongs in your home.

Each session is shaped around your dog’s energy, comfort, and character.

Whether we’re working in the studio or outdoors, the focus stays the same: creating portraits that feel true, and that translate beautifully into finished artwork for your home.
Your dog doesn’t need to be “perfect,” and you don’t have to know how you’ll display your images yet. I’ll be there throughout to guide you and your dog.

Here’s how it works

Thoughtful planning

Before you book, we start with a conversation. It’s a chance to talk about your dog, your space, and what you might like to do with your favourite images, without needing to decide anything yet.

I’ll outline how sessions work, how to prepare your dog–and you, answer questions, and help you picture possibilities.

The portrait session

On the day of your session, I’ll guide the flow and adapt to your dog, keeping the experience relaxed and focused on images that reflect their personality and your connection.

Viewing & ordering

After your session, we’ll go through the images together at your private viewing and ordering appointment. Seeing the photographs brings things into focus. We’ll narrow in on your favourites and decide how you’d like to finish them for your home.

Everyone who comes into my home is blown away by my precious works of art.

Karen at Indigo has taken photos of my dogs on 3 separate occasions (so far!). She knows how to direct the dogs (and the owner) making sure everyone has fun and is perfectly captured. The locations and settings she recommends are beautiful. Options for canvases, prints and other items are all tasteful. Everyone who comes into my home is blown away by my precious works of art 🙂

With devices in hand we are all amateur photographers these days – but you cannot compare this to the quality of the images and how they are produced with the help of a passionate professional like Karen. I am so happy with everything Karen has worked on for me and I know there will be more to come as well!

Still have questions? Here are some answers

My dog would never sit still, can you still get amazing photos?

Some dogs are super high energy and busy. Some are easily distracted (can you say “squirrel!”). But here’s the good news – it’s not imperative that your dog sit still for longer than a split second! I have a super quick trigger finger and lots of techniques to draw your pet’s attention, even if it’s just for a split second – because that’s all I need to get a gorgeous portrait of your pup.

My dog is nervous of new people/situations, how would you deal with that?

Sometimes we all need a moment to get our bearings and figure out new people! I get it. If I know your dog is nervous, when I arrive I’ll ignore them completely. I’ll be dropping treats on the ground around me to help them see that good things happen when I’m around and I have a few other tricks up my sleeve to build their trust. I’m happy to take as much time as your dog needs to warm up to me and my camera.

We’ll choose a location that has few, if any, distractions, and they can have a good sniff  to check it out before we start. Patience is the name of the game with animals and I have it in spades.

My dog can’t be off leash, are all the dogs you photograph off leash?

Heck no! Most of the dogs I work with are ON leash. It’s safer that way. I have a 20 ft. leash that we can even use can even capture awesome action shots.

I use the leash to help manage distracted dogs and keep them in place. So, as you see, a leash can be an asset, not a draw back.

I remove leashes in post production on images that you purchase. That’s why all the dogs I photograph are off leash!

Can I be in some of the photos with my dog?

Absolutely! In fact I highly encourage it. A beautiful portrait with your pet, candid shots for a Storybook, or even images where you’re “in, but not in” the shots are a wonderful way to capture your relationship and keep the memories alive.

What happens at the ordering appointment?

After your session, we’ll schedule a private appointment where you’ll see 25-30+ images from your session. This is where the magic happens – you’ll see your dog’s personality captured beautifully, and we’ll talk through your favorites. I use an app to help sort the images into your loves and likes.

I’ll help you envision how different images would look in your space, show you size and product options, and be your guide (or your sounding board) toward choices you’ll love for years to come. There’s no pressure and no rush – this is your time to fall in love with your images and create something beautiful.

Do you have payment plans?

For your convenience, I do offer payment plans. Make payments that suit your budget, so that you can have your dog’s portraits exactly how you want to enjoy them – e.g. Framed Wall Art, a Storybook – whatever makes your heart happy.

How do I find the best dog photographer for me in Niagara–or nearby?

If you’re looking for the best dog photographer for you, it’s important to do some homework before you invest in your experience. My recommendation is to:

  • look at the photographer’s portfolio – does their photographic style resonate with you? Would you be delighted if your dog captured were captured in a similar style?
  • read client reviews – find a trusting listing source such as google and go through their reviews, what people say will give you an indication of what you can expect from the experience
  • look at the products that the photographer offers. Do they offer a curated range of ways to display your images and are they suited to your decor and taste?
  • talk to the photographer on the phone to see if you click! If you connect on the phone it should make for a happier all around experience in person
  • ensure the photographer has a solid understanding of animal behavior, particularly if you have a dog that is nervous, shy or reactive
